[SWFObject] SWFObject Digest, Vol 1, Issue 24

I eventually managed to get the button to respond somehow after clicking
on it about 100 times, but the install still left me with the original
content window open and saying I needed to close it to complete
installation. I saw someone mention something about a firewall issue but
I wasn't sure if they were referring to this express install thread or
something else.

try running the flash player uninstaller and then installing from a
clean start.

It's supposed to upgrade you on the current page without redirecting
you to macromedia.

it's different on a mac vs. pc too, on a PC, the user clicks 'yes',
the upgrade will download and the install starts. the installer then
closes the current window and the browser will re-open and direct
back to the page that the installer was launched from.

on a mac, the user clicks 'yes', the installer downloads, but they
then have to quit the browser. once they quit the browser, the
installer will upgrade them, and when the upgrade is done, it re-
opens the browser, and they are redirected back to the page that
started the install.

Scott

I may have missed something in the post - but I had this issue to it was
because of my firewall kicking in, I had to turn it off to complete the
installation.

I asked on this mailer if anybody includes any bypass instruction in
their upgrade message...I didn't get a response :-(

(http://blog.deconcept.com/swfobject/expressinstall.html) is that the
original content window remains open with a message saying that you need
to close that window to complete installation. This is hardly any
different than the non-express install experience.

ah, i missed your old e-mail because your subject wasn't accurate!

i've never heard of firewalls blocking express install - it's just a
generic loadMovie() call, so unless your firewall is *really* picky
and blocks all those, i don't think there should be an issue.

has anoyone else had firewall issues with express install?
