[SWFObject] SWF Object and CSS drop menus

I knew about that one, but the pros out weighed the cons and I don't see
safari as a big enough browser to worry about it. I am sure some of you will
disagree but at the end of the day if they ain't paying for it to be
compatible on every single browser then they ain't getting it.

I believe, it is because Safari does not support the wmode tag as other
browsers do. The only way of getting round it is to hide the flash div when
displaying the menu which I did not want to do. It is a known bug in safari
and any google search will show countless problems with it.

The days of me worrying endlessly about a piece of work not working on a
minority browser are long gone. And I must say I sleep a lot better at night
for it :)

Cheers

M

p.s. thanks for letting us know though, I should use this mailing list to
test all my work, he he.

p.p.s I believe that the Apple Corporation are aware of this bug but haven't
done anything about it.

Mike,

Just to let you know, I'm using Safari 2.0.3 and the drop down you
mention below works intermittently over Flash.
See here:

Works OK - http://benhuson.com/temp/dd_flash_1.png
...and sometimes not - http://benhuson.com/temp/dd_flash_2.png
