[SWFObject] Problem runnin script from included footer

Thanks a lot for your excellent work.  This is helping me a great deal.

However, I'm running into a very strange problem.  Each page on my site 
has 3 flash buttons for the global navigation.  I've been using SSI to 
append the footer to all pages.  But after i added SWFObject code it 
stopped working in all browsers. IE status bar says that 3 items 
remaining and hangs.  FF doesn't do anything.  I tried PHP include with 
the same result.  The most strange part is that everything works fine if 
I copy the same code from the footer.html into the body of the page.
Any help would be greatly, greatly appreciated.
