[SWFObject] Trouble opening new browser windows

Um Geoff,

Your remark but i'm not sure why using swfobject would make a difference is a very valid comment.

This is the only mailing list I am subscribed to, and I have the unfortunate habit of trying to help people out without keeping the focus on SWFobject.

Has there ever been an intiative to start up a forum dedicated to this issue? There would be the advantage of having searchable archives ( not sure if that's a featureof this current method of ommunication ) and the ability to move topics from a SWFobject specific section to a non-SWFobject specific section?

I was thinking maybe a phpBB, I could host it and help with moderation duties if there is enough interest.

regards,

Richard

i'm thinking it was a popup blocker issue - but i'm not sure why using swfobject would make a difference...

but if it is an issue, i'd like to know the fix for it for future reference...

also: were you testing your movie locally? or on a server? what browser?

Hi Andrew,

 Try http://www................/mph06.htm instead of just mph06.htm.

 ( I may be way of base, but it's worth a try, I seem to remember relative as opposed to absolute url's causing trouble in the past )

 success,

 The JavaScript I used pre SWFObject doesn’t seem to work now:

 I’ve got this in the head:

 <script language="JavaScript">

 function openNewWindow(URLtoOpen, windowName, windowFeatures) {

 newWindow=window.open(URLtoOpen, windowName, windowFeatures); }

 </script>

 And this on the button:

 on (release) {

 getURL("javascript:openNewWindow('mph06.htm','MPH06','height=425,width=567,toolbar=no,scrollbars=no')");

 }

 And that used to work for me, but doesn’t do a thing now L

 am I just bein stupid?
